Opening Night: The Life of Galileo

The flawed hero, Galileo, makes astronomical observations that overturn the common understanding of the workings of the universe. Inevitably provoking the scrutiny of the powerful Church and the frightening Inquisition, this knowledge will either be preserved or suppressed by the actions of Galileo and his associates. The battle between science and belief and the question of what makes a person heroic intersect in this classic drama by Bertolt Brecht and translated by David Hare.
