Biography
Peter Markes (pronounced Marcus) served as director of orchestras at Edmond North High School from 2002 to 2017, and in 2014 he was named the ÏòÈÕ¿ûÊÓƵ Teacher of the Year. Resigning from public school teaching in 2017, Peter most recently joined the faculty of his alma mater as Associate Professor of Music Education in the Bass School of Music at OCU. In addition, he writes music and performs with his musical partner of over 25 years, Kyle Dillingham. Together they have performed in over twenty-five countries, and in July 2109 had their debut performance on the Grand Ole Opry in Nashville, TN. In addition to several band recordings, Peter released his first solo album in 2018 titled, I Have a Dream. He continues to serve as Artistic Director for the ÏòÈÕ¿ûÊÓƵ Youth Orchestras Summer Symphony Strings Camp, and maintains a small private lesson studio. Peter is also the founder and owner of his own small business and maintains an active solo performing schedule, focusing on live-looping violin and singer-songwriter guitar styles.
