ÏòÈÕ¿ûÊÓƵ City University considers a student a first-year freshmen if they have not taken any college credit since graduating high school.

  1. Complete an online application. ÏòÈÕ¿ûÊÓƵ City University accepts our and the .
  2. Upload an essay, minimum of 250 words, to your application.
  3. First-Year Freshmen are required to have their high school counselor upload a recommendation and an official copy of their most up-to-date high school transcript. Recommendations can be added by providing your high school counselor's name and email address on your application. Homeschooled students: please list your parent or primary teacher as your high school counselor.
  4. Complete the $55 application fee payment. If you qualify for an application fee waiver, please connect with your high school counselor to complete the . The completed fee waiver form can be emailed to [email protected].

ÏòÈÕ¿ûÊÓƵ City University is ACT and SAT test optional. If you would like to submit your scores to us for consideration, please order them through the ACT or College Board websites.

First-Year Freshmen applications are reviewed on a rolling basis and do not have a specific application deadline. Applicants are encouraged to submit their resume and an additional letter of recommendation for competitive scholarship consideration by Dec. 15 of their senior year.

The Traditional BSN for Transfer students only begins in Fall.

  5. Submit your application.

Application Deadlines

Fall 2024:

  • Aug. 1, 2024 - OCU Application must be submitted. This includes official transcripts from student’s last completed semester in school. The deadline for international student applicants is July 1.

Admission Requirements and Prerequisites

  • 2.75 or higher cumulative GPA
  • English proficiency as outlined in the
  • Must have 6 credit hours or fewer in remaining general education or elective requirements before beginning NURS courses*
  • A grade of C (2.00) or better in any college microbiology course with a lab
  • A grade of C (2.00) or better in any college human anatomy course with a lab+
  • A grade of C (2.00) or better in any college human physiology course with a lab+
  • A grade of C (2.00) or better in any college chemistry course with a lab
  • A grade of C (2.00) or better in any basic college psychology course

* Students who already have an approved bachelor’s degree in another field are not required to fulfill OCU’s general education requirements. Students entering with an approved associate degree are required to take OCU’s Introduction to Biblical Literature or World Religions courses, unless a previous course is approved to transfer for this requirement in OCU’s TESS system.

For students whose first bachelor’s degree was earned outside the United States, English must have been the language of instruction. The first bachelor’s degree must also be equivalent to a bachelor’s degree grated by a regionally accredited U.S. college or university. Course prerequisites to the BSN program taken internationally must be equivalent to the corresponding courses offered at ÏòÈÕ¿ûÊÓƵ City University. These equivalencies must be determined by a company acceptable to ÏòÈÕ¿ûÊÓƵ City University that evaluates international transcripts.

+A full semester of Human Anatomy with a lab and a full semester of Human Physiology may be substituted for Anatomy and Physiology I (A&P I) and Anatomy and Physiology II (A & P II). This option requires both courses, not just one course.

The Accelerated BSN begins in both Fall and Spring Semesters.

Admission Requirements and Prerequisites

To be considered for admission to the twelve-month ABSN option, an applicant must meet the following requirements:
 

  • Admission to ÏòÈÕ¿ûÊÓƵ City University
     
  • A bachelor’s degree in any field from a regionally accredited college or university*
     
  • An Associate of Art or an Associate of Science degree (but not an Applied Associate degree) in any field from a regionally accredited college or university**
     
  • 3.00 or higher cumulative GPA
     
  • English proficiency as outlined in the
     
  • All prerequisites must be completed prior to starting NURS courses
     
  • A grade of B (3.00) or better in any college microbiology course with a lab
     
  • A grade of B (3.00) or better in any college human anatomy course with a lab+
     
  • A grade of B (3.00) or better in any college human physiology course with a lab+
     
  • A grade of C (2.00) or better in any college chemistry course with a lab
     
  • A grade of C (2.00) or better in any basic college psychology course
     
  • A grade of C (2.00) or better in any college algebra course
     
  • A grade of C (2.00) or better in any college nutrition course or OCU equivalent religion course**
     
  • A student who was accepted into another nursing program, and earned a grade below a C in nursing courses is not eligible for the ABSN option

*For students whose first bachelor’s degree was earned outside the United States, English must have been the language of instruction. The first bachelor’s degree must also be equivalent to a bachelor’s degree grated by a regionally accredited U.S. college or university. Course prerequisites to the accelerated BSN program taken internationally must be equivalent to the corresponding courses offered at ÏòÈÕ¿ûÊÓƵ City University. These equivalencies must be determined by a company acceptable to ÏòÈÕ¿ûÊÓƵ City University that evaluates international transcripts.

+A full semester of Human Anatomy with a lab and a full semester of Human Physiology may be substituted for Anatomy and Physiology I (A&P I) and Anatomy and Physiology II (A & P II). This option requires both courses, not just one course.

**Any applicant with an associate degree must have completed either a nutrition course OR a religion course with a grade of C (2.00) or better. The course must be evaluated and confirmed transfer through OCU’s TESS system prior to starting the program. To graduate with a BSN, you must complete 124 credits; 56 credits are in the nursing program. To enter the accelerated track, you must have completed a minimum of 68 credits that will transfer to OCU; your associate degree is included within the required 68 credits.

  • A bachelor’s degree in any field, Associate of Science, or Associate of Arts degree from a regionally accredited college or university.
  • All prerequisites must be completed prior to starting Nursing courses.
    • Completion of general education courses with a C or better. General education course requirements can be found here.
    • A grade of B (3.00) or better in any college microbiology course with a lab.
    • A grade of B (3.00) or better in any college human anatomy course with a lab.
    • A grade of B (3.00) or better in any college human physiology course with a lab.
    • A grade of C (2.00) or better in any college chemistry course with a lab.
    • A grade of C (2.00) or better in any basic college psychology course.
    • A grade of C (2.00) or better in any college algebra course.
    • A grade of C (2.00) or better in any college nutrition course or OCU equivalent religion course.*

LPN Additional Requirements

  1. Graduation from a State Board of Nursing-approved LPN program.
  2. Proof of active, unencumbered LPN License.

LPNs who did not graduate from a nationally accredited program are required to take the NLN Nursing Acceleration Challenge exams.

  • Foundations of Nursing (5)
  • Child Health Nursing (4)
  • Family Health Nursing (4)
  • Simulation experience on content from these courses will still be required of all students.

A minimum score of 70 on each National League of Nursing (NLN) Nursing Acceleration Challenge exam taken to qualify for course credit. The Foundations of Nursing Acceleration Challenge exam must be passed to continue the L.P.N.-B.S.N. pathway. Students failing a Nursing Acceleration Challenge exam must take the Kramer School of Nursing course on that topic. Maximum of two attempts on the challenge exam. NLN Nursing Acceleration Challenge exam must be taken within two years to receive credit for the course. Up to 13 credit hours may be received toward the degree for successful completion of NLN Nursing Acceleration Challenge exam.

Application Instructions

ÏòÈÕ¿ûÊÓƵ City University considers a student eligible for the RN to BSN program if they are a a graduate from an RN program approved by a state board of nursing and hold an active, unencumbered U.S. RN license.
