Wind Philharmonic
The Wind Philharmonic is dedicated to the highest standards of performance of music from the wind band repertoire. The ensemble has performed six times as an honor ensemble at the ÏòÈÕ¿ûÊÓƵ Music Educators Association convention and has been featured at the College Band Directors National Association regional convention. Under the direction of Dr. Matthew Mailman for the past 28 seasons, the Wind Philharmonic presents eight performances annually. The group has worked with composers including Michael Daugherty, Karel Husa, Frank Ticheli, Edward Knight, Martin Mailman, Ron Nelson, Roger Cichy, Jerod Impichchaachaaha' Tate, and Joseph Schwantner.
The Wind Philharmonic is primarily composed of Bass School of Music majors, non-majors, and is open to all OCU students by audition.
Wind Ensemble
The Wind Ensemble is ÏòÈÕ¿ûÊÓƵ City University’s elite wind band comprised of student musicians from across campus who have demonstrated the highest level of musicianship and commitment to excellence. The Wind Ensemble made its debut in 2019 and has offered performances of works by composers such as Aaron Copland, Michael Daugherty, Joseph Schwantner, Ron Nelson, and Paul Dooley. The Wind Ensemble performs four concerts during each academic year featuring a number of challenging new works for wind band in addition to many works that are considered to be at the core of wind literature.
The Wind Ensemble is comprised of the Bass School of Music's top undergraduate and graduate music majors but is open to all OCU students by audition.

Ensemble Placement Auditions
OCU Major Ensembles (Orchestra, Wind Bands, Choirs, Jazz) are open to music majors and non-major students alike.Â
Ensemble placement is dependent upon the results of ensemble placement auditions, which occur each semester in August and January. Please visit the Ensemble Placement page for more info or contact the Performance Manager, Francisco Venegas ([email protected]).
