Supplemental plans into which medical plan members are automatically enrolled with no premium cost.

  • Plan members and dependents may visit the university’s onsite clinic, FHCMEC at OCU, as well as two additional locations in the metro area for acute care, primary care and other routine services at no cost.

Flexible Spending Accounts

Medical and dependent care flexible spending accounts are available to Base and Buy Up plan members. A flex spending debit card is available through Advantage Benefits Plus as well.

Health Savings Account (HSA)

Employees enrolled in the High Deductible Health Plan (HDHP) are eligible to open a health savings account. The university will match any contribution an employee makes to an HSA up to $600 if the employee has employee only medical coverage and up to $1,100 if the employee is covering one or more dependents.

Dental plan highlights

  • Dental coverage is offered through Delta Dental 2024/United Concordia in 2025
  • Preventive coverage: 2 visits annually
  • Covers exam, X-rays, cleaning
  • Additional services covered after a $100 annual deductible
  • Basic services covered at 80% such as amalgam and composite fillings
  • Major services covered at 50% such as crowns, dentures and implants
  • Maximum annual benefit: $2,000

Vision plan highlights

  • Vision coverage is offered through VSP
  • Annual eye exam copay: $10
  • Copay for glasses: $25
    • $200 allowance for frames with basic lenses
    • 20-25% discount on lens enhancements

Flexibility

Medical, dental and vision plans are standalone so employees may select the ideal mix of plans for your needs.

Staff and 12-month faculty accrue 10 sick days annually as well as vacation (based on years of service and position). In addition to vacation and sick leave, employees receive paid time off for a range of situations to promote and support work-life balance including approximately 16.5 paid holidays, time off for civic ÏòÈÕ¿ûÊÓƵ including voting and jury duty, and bereavement leave.

Currently, the university observes a summer schedule program allowing a reduced work week during the summer terms without a change in employee pay. Office hours begin immediately following graduation and are 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. with a 30-minute lunch break for employees Monday through Thursday through the end of July. Offices are closed on Fridays during this schedule.

Nine-month faculty do not accrue sick or vacation leave and instead are covered by the university’s current faculty short leave disability and parental leave programs for time away from campus in certain circumstances.

Retirement Plan

The university’s retirement plans offer several opportunities for retirement savings via recordkeeper TIAA.

  • 403b Group Plan with Employer Match - Employees may contribute up to 5% of base pay to the 403b group retirement plan to receive a matching contribution of up to 5% from the university.
  • Additional Contributions – Employees may elect to contribute additional amounts (pre-tax or Roth) up to annual IRS limits.
  • 457 Plan - Employees earning $100,000 or more may participate in the university’s 457b plan subject to annual IRS limits.
  • Participation and Vesting – Employees may begin participating immediately and are vested at 20% per year until being fully vested at five full years of service.

Employees may request to begin or update payroll retirement contributions

Tuition remission and exchange programs

After four months of service, employees and qualifying dependents are eligible for tuition remission to cover all or some of university tuition and fees (for the employee only) for undergraduate, graduate and professional-level degree programs. Additionally, the university participates in two tuition exchange programs — and — offering the opportunity to apply for scholarship awards at participating institutions. Additional program materials are available via SharePoint.

Life and Long Term Disability Insurance

  • Basic Life and AD&D Insurance - Basic life insurance and accidental death and dismemberment coverage is provided to all employees at no cost with a benefit of two times an employee’s salary up to $100,000.
  • Long Term Disability Insurance – After one year of service, long term disability is covered 100% by the university and provides income replacement up to 60% of pre-disability earnings not to exceed $15,000 monthly in the event of a qualifying disability.
  • Supplemental Life Insurance - Employees may purchase additional group supplemental life insurance policies for themselves and dependents at group rates.

Additional benefits

  • Employee Assistance Program (EAP) – This confidential resource is available to employees and family members to assist with a wide range of work/life balance issues.
  • Voluntary Benefits – The university offers several payroll deducted voluntary plans including accidental injury and critical illness policies, and other offers that vary by plan year.
  • Fitness Center Access – Employees may use the on-campus fitness center at no cost.
  • Free and/or Discounted Event Admission – Employees may attend athletic events at no cost. Other event tickets such as music, theater and dance performances may be discounted.
  • Wellness Time – Employees receive one hour of wellness time weekly to engage in on-campus wellness ÏòÈÕ¿ûÊÓƵ as schedules permit.
