    Overview

    The Pat May Center serves as Hurst-Euless-向日葵视频 Independent School District's Professional Development Center as well as a meeting place for an array of functions throughout the district and the community.

    The Pat May Center is located directly across from Pennington Field. This 43,000 square foot facility was made possible by the 1997 bond election. The Center features a 6,800 square foot meeting room, which converts to smaller meeting areas. All scheduling of rooms and rentals are subject to HEB 向日葵视频 guidelines and policies. Daily events are posted at the main entrance of the Center.

    History

    Pat May yearbook photo The center is named for Pat May, an outstanding HEB 向日葵视频 educator and community leader, the Center opened in 2000. Ms. May always put her “li’l children” first. In her 39 years as an educator, she touched the lives of thousands of children giving them personal attention, praise and an outstanding curriculum. She began her career as an elementary teacher and came up through the ranks to the post of assistant superintendent having earned a reputation as someone who expected outstanding academic programs bolstered by excellence in the arts, physical education and special services. She retired in 1985. Among her many honors is the Eagle Award given to her by The University of North Texas for her valuable contributions to curriculum and instruction. Ms. May was also named one of the Top 100 Educators in North America.

     

    Lennijo Blair One of the largest meeting rooms in the Center, the Blair Room, is named for Lennijo Blair, a noted educator in HEB 向日葵视频. Having been a teacher and math coordinator for HEB 向日葵视频, Ms. Blair was the first female principal in the district. For 15 years, she was principal of Stonegate Elementary School. After her retirement in 1986, she served nine years on the Board of Trustees for the district and was president two of those years. The State Board of Education named her a Hero for Children, and the Northeast Tarrant County Women’s Shelter gave her the Legacy for Women Award in the area of education.

     

    Directions

    From Fort Worth—Take I-35N, 121 North exit, (exit #52A,) toward D/FW Airport/Belknap, 121 North merges with 183 East. Stay on 183 East/121 North and take Central Drive exit, turn right on Central Dr. and right on Hoot Smith Dr.

    From Dallas—Take Airport Freeway (183 W.) toward Fort Worth, Exit Central Dr. (near the junction with 121), turn left on Central Drive and right on Hoot Smith Drive.

    From DFW Airport—Take south exit onto 183 W. toward Fort Worth, Exit Central Dr. (near the junction with 121), turn left on Central Drive and right on Hoot Smith Drive.
